About Molly Johnson

After receiving a bachelors degree in Biochemistry from Carleton College, Ms. Johnson attended the 3-year training to become an AmSAT-certified Alexander Technique teacher, graduating in 2001. In 2010, Ms. Johnson completed a PhD in Neuroscience & Behavior from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and received a postdoctoral fellowship to research occupational health and movement factors that predispose people to back pain at the Washington University School of Medicine.  Ms. Johnson teaches the Alexander Technique at her Austin private practice, the Integrated Motion Studio. She works with a range of clients, from people with chronic pain to athletes and musicians wanting to improve their performance. Ms. Johnson also teaches banjo and voice lessons and plays with various musical groups. Her background as a musician, swimmer, personal trainer, and biomechanist/neuroscientist shapes her approach to the Alexander Technique and allows her to help students make changes they never believed were possible.
